Professor Krishna Prapoorna is an internationally accomplished academician with over 20 years of combined research, teaching, and administrative experience in India, USA, and Sweden. He is currently a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati, India. His expertise embodies multitude aspects of sustainable and smart transportation infrastructure, innovative materials, performance monitoring, asset management, and circular economy, chiefly supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). He has authored / co-authored and contributed over 230 papers in international journals and conferences, and over 90 reports, press articles, newsletters, and guides till date. He has delivered more than 200 presentations in 17 countries. He has successfully developed over two dozen roadway products and processes that are cutting-edge engineering innovations and been deployed in the form of field demonstration roadway systems on highways and in smart cities. Since 2015, he has been serving as the Asphalt-Rubber Ambassador for the Republic of India, a recognition awarded by the international rubberized asphalt-rubber conference group. In 2009, he was awarded the International Road Federation (Global) Executive Lifetime Fellowship. Currently, he serves as Director of the Boards of Rubberized Asphalt Foundation and International Road Federation (Global) as well as an Independent Director of Tinna Rubber & Infrastructure Limited (India). He is associated with various international societies such as the USA-based NAE, ASTM International, RILEM, ASCE, IRF, iSMARTi, etc. He serves as: Associate Editor of the Elsevier’s Resources, Conservation and Recycling Journal; Associate Editor of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering; Associate Editor of the Taylor & Francis’ International Journal of Road Materials and Pavement Design; Editorial Board Member of the American Society for Testing and Materials International Journal of Testing and Evaluation; Associate Editor of the Springer Nature Innovative Infrastructure Solutions. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). Currently, he is one of the Co-Chairs of the USA-based Transportation Research Board subcommittee on Pavement Lifecyle, and EU-based RILEM task group chair of the committee focused on field evaluation of alternative pavement design and performance. Further, he is Vice President (South Asia) of the international Society for Maintenance And Rehabilitation of Transport infrastructures (iSMARTi). His contributions in transportation education and research have been well acknowledged by the engineering community globally, including appointment as Adjunct Professor at Arizona State University (USA) and External Faculty Member of Purdue University (USA), both of which have enabled him to secure a joint intercontinental project fully funded by the Government of India Department of Science and Technology in the cutting edge areas of self-charging technologies and advanced roadway systems for transporting electric vehicles in smart cities. |
